My journey into entrepreneurship was sparked by a personal story that's very close to my heart. Growing up as a diehard St. Louis Blues hockey fan, I always dreamed of playing the sport. However, the high cost of equipment meant that dream remained just that for many years. It wasn't until I was 14, when a local resale shop opened up, that my family and I were able to afford the gear I needed to finally hit the ice. That $225 investment allowed me to start playing the sport I had loved from afar for so long. This experience was a turning point for me, not just in hockey, but in life. It taught me the value of accessibility and the impact it can have on a person's life.
For 13 years, I had been sidelined, watching the game but not being able to participate. Finally getting the chance to play was a dream come true. This experience wasn't just about playing hockey; it was about overcoming barriers and realizing dreams. The local sports resale shop that helped me was more than just a store; it was a gateway to opportunities for kids like me who thought playing sports was beyond their reach due to financial constraints. This realization ignited a passion in me to provide the same opportunities to others.
Today, as the founder of Quig's Sports Emporium, my mission is to give back to the community that gave me so much. I want to ensure that no child has to give up on their dream of playing sports because of the cost of equipment. By offering new and used sports equipment at affordable prices, I aim to break down the financial barriers that prevent talented, passionate kids from pursuing their sports dreams. It's not just about selling sports equipment; it's about building a community and supporting the next generation of athletes. I believe that every child deserves the chance to play, to be part of a team, and to experience the joy and lessons sports can bring into their lives.
